Welcome to Mrs. Gomez’s  Class!

 Welcome to Second Grade!

I am excited to be your child’s teacher this year! Here is important information for you :

 

Communication

 Frequent and positive communication between school and home is integral for your child’s success in school.  There are several ways to communicate during the school year:

  • Email sandra.gomez@ocps.net
  • CLASS DOJO message (individual log ins have been provided)
  • Communication Binder (will contain school flyers, PTA information, teacher notes and newsletter)

  • Phone call: _______________If you leave a message, I will return your call within 24hrs. Remember, our main priority during the day is the safety and instruction of your child; therefore phone calls will not be accepted during instructional time.

Transportation

All transportation changes must be in writing!  We cannot take your child’s word!  Notes can be sent in, the morning of the change. 

News

A newsletter will be sent home at the beginning of each month.  The newsletter will include reminders, important dates, topics we will be covering and classroom needs.

Conduct

Good behavior is expected and important to ensure a productive learning environment.  Your child will participate in Class Dojo, in addition to having a color behavior chart as needed. I promote conscious discipline and provide a way for students to learn to deal with various feelings the right way. A Class Dojo Report will be available at the end of the week for those parents who do not have internet access. Please initial the planner every day. Classdojo is private and secure messages. Pictures will be shared with you only.

Change of Clothes

Please provide a change of clothes labeled with your child’s name in a Ziploc bag to keep in their backpacks. 

PE

Please make sure your child brings a water bottle on these days and wears proper shoes everyday to school.

Lunch

Can be brought from home or pre-purchased at school. Please place all money in an envelope with your child’s name on it. Then place in the plastic pouch for each day, week, or month.  You can also have lunch with your child during our lunch time. Our lunch time is at _____Please be on time!

Snack  

 

Birthdays

On your child’s Special day, you may bring cookies, mini cupcakes, or doughnuts to share with the class during lunch. All foods must be store bought, sealed and dropped off in the office. Please make sure proper forms are filled out. We currently do not have any peanut allergies. There are 18 students in the class.

Second – Fifth Grade

S – Satisfactory

A – 90 – 100%

W – Working on skill

B – 80 – 89%

N – Needs Improvement

C – 70 – 79%

U – Unsatisfactory

D – 60 – 69%

 

F – 0 – 59%

Homework

Will be assigned according to your child’s needs.  Homework should be completed each night. Please remember to initial your child’s planner each day. Students will need crayons, glue, scissors and a pencil to keep at home.

Illness

Please do not send your child to school if he/she has been sick for 24 hrs (temperature, is vomiting, has diarrhea, ringworm or conjunctivitis /pink eye).  If your child becomes ill at school.
