Welcome to the 2019-2020 School Year!

Welcome to our class family blog! I am so glad you found our little home in cyberspace.

This blog is one of my favorite communication resources. I hope you will love it as much as I do! I’ve included TONS of information about our classroom that will get you ready for the fun year we have ahead of us. Use the menu at the top of the page to navigate your way around and feel free to email me if you have any questions.

I really enjoyed getting to meet so many of you at Meet the Teacher. It’s always fun to watch the kids explore their new classroom for the first time. It gets everyone excited for the first day of school!

*The 2nd grade team is looking for parents to help with a few small projects on the first day of school (assembling KOALA Books, tearing out and separating workbook pages, etc). If you are interested and able to help, please check-in at the front office first (you will not be allowed in our hallway without a pass). We are hoping to start right after the PTA’s Boo Hoo/ Yahoo Breakfast, which ends around 10:00. I already had quite a few parents sign-up to help with this, but please email me if you are also interested. If you did already sign-up, be on the lookout for an email from me this weekend. Thanks in advance!*

Here is some other important information for the first day of school:

1. Please make sure your child knows how he/she is getting home at the end of the day (there is a form in the white folder from Meet the Teacher). Most of you wrote it down on the clipboard at Meet the Teacher, but we want every child to get home safely after a wonderful first day of school.

2. If you picked up the white folder of paperwork at Meet the Teacher to complete at home, please try to return it on the first day of school. If you were unable to attend Meet the Teacher, I will send home all of the paperwork with your child on the first day of school. Here is a digital copy of information for the first day of school:2nd Grade Info 2019 *Please note: The letter printed in your white Meet the Teacher folder says the cafeteria accepts checks, but it does NOT. The corrected information in this digital copy.*

Please Note: This year, all $20 classroom donations will  go through the School Pay website. If you don’t already have an account, you will need to create one first. Then, just search “McBride” and you can make your donation.  I know it so much easier than finding cash or writing a check! https://www.schoolpay.com/

3. Each morning our class will meet and line-up on the wall right across from our classroom door (room 518). Students may begin arriving at 8:15. There is no supervision prior to 8:15, so if you need to drop your child off earlier than that please visit the Extended Day office to sign-up for morning extended day. Beginning at 8:15 there will be a 2nd grade teacher on duty to monitor the 2nd grade hallway. All teachers will be in the hallway on the first day of school to help students get settled in. The first bell rings at 8:35 and the tardy bell rings at 8:45.

4. We eat lunch at 10:50, so we are asking for every student to bring a small, healthy afternoon snack. Students should also bring a water bottle to use in the classroom, as well as at P.E. and recess. Your child may either bring a lunch from home or purchase the school lunch. You can send lunch money to school in a labeled envelope or prepay online.

I’m looking forward to a fantastic first day of second grade on Monday! Enjoy your last few days of summer and please don’t hesitate to email me with any questions.
