Many students plan on spending their summer sitting on the sofa and enjoying a pint of ice cream while watching their favorite episode of Supernatural on Netflix. But how ironic is it that while tourists from all around the world would die to actually visit here, Floridians choose to stay within four walls?

It is not too late to plan for a great summer, especially if you consider some of these great Florida summer ideas:

Tubing

Blue Springs, and many other beautiful spring parks in Florida, offer tubing, swimming, snorkeling, diving, paddling, and boat tours, which are great ideas for cooling off during the hot summer. You may also sight a manatee in the water or even wild animals in the forest.

Picnic

Grab some friends and have a spontaneous picnic at a park or even in your backyard. Make some sandwiches and pasta with refreshing lemonade. If you consider going to a park, plan on barbequing and then playing a game of soccer or Frisbee afterwards.

Beach

Florida is known for its beautiful beaches and one of its finest has to be Clearwater Beach, located along a three mile stretch of the Pinellas Peninsula on the Gulf Coast. It offers visitors with activities such as sunbathing on the white sand, playing a game of beach-volleyball, renting fishing boats, taking a dolphin-watching cruise, and going parasailing.

Disney

Going to Disney as a tourist is a must-do, but so is going to Disney as a resident. You cannot be too old to enjoy ‘It’s a small World’ or one of its most popular rides such as ‘Space Mountain.’

Volunteer

A novel way to spend your free time is serving your community. You can go to the Second Harvest Food Bank and help pack cans or even go to a homeless shelter and serve food to the homeless. If you joined a club at school, its will most likely have community service opportunities.
