By Kayleah Hu

Timber Creek Girls Varsity Soccer Team traveled to Winter Park High School and finished first place in the East Metro for the 2023 – 2024 soccer season and remained undefeated. This team has an excellent record in their Metro of 6-0. Timber Creek junior midfielder Kasey Beresford scored the first goal in the second quarter, quickly followed by captain Ava Russel in the third quarter with a goal for the win. Head Coach Jimmy Angeles exclaimed “I am so proud of these girls for working towards our year goals. This group has been the most talented team the school has had in a long time. Now we have to focus on districts and work for the win again. Go Wolves!”

This team has been working hard over the past few months to accomplish this win. Their overall record for this regular season is 10-2-2 and a current winning streak of 6. These girls practice Monday through Friday and during breaks and display their efforts on the field. This Varsity team has unbeatable chemistry in their plays and work well together to communicate, attack, defend, and pressure.

Timber Creek and Winter Park have been rivals since the beginning. During the match you can see and feel the animosity and competition between these two schools. “Beating our rival school at their own field is so exciting. We have beat Winter Park since 2017 and this will be a year to remember! I truly hope this team excels in their next years!” said senior Mya Mujica. She explained how being on the pitch during finals made her feel exhilarated because she had the chance to benefit the team with the win.

The season is slowly coming to the end with only a few matches left for the 2023 – 2024 winter season. Now we wish our fellow classmates Timber Creek Wolves a great rest of the season and to play in regionals, districts, and maybe even states! Good luck to our Girls Varsity Soccer Team!

The crowd goes wild! Timber Creek Wolves beat Winter Park Wildcats 2-1 for the Metro Championship. This team put in all of their effort and worked their hardest to ensure they took home the trophy. Captain Alex Luepann said, “It feels great to win on their home turf especially being rivals, I look forward to next season to see what the new year brings to this amazing team!” Photo by Quay Hu
