Adam Lange, the History Department Head, is very well liked at Timber Creek. Lange teaches AP U.S. History with classes mostly consisting of 11th graders. Lange is well known for his teaching style and engaging lectures. Many students enjoy his enthusiastic attitude and his positive energy in the classroom. According to junior Caden Ferrell, “He’s a good teacher that gives lots of lectures. He has a unique way of presenting new information through lectures. Even though he uses lots of lectures he also employs a variety of other teaching methods to make material easier to grasp.”

AP U.S. History is infamous for containing a lot of work such as projects and essays. Lange employs these techniques but also keeps the workload manageable. “It’s an understandable workload for an AP class. He uses vocabulary, document analyses, and chapter outlines to engage students into independent study,” said junior Mia Foresman. Lange allows his students to use their own study techniques on their own time but guides them with different types of assignments to focus their studies.

Overall, Mr. Lange is considered an amazing teacher, not only by his students, but by his colleagues as well. He has been department chair for the history department for years. Lange also takes time to mentor new teachers. When Mr. Mitchell Bell began teaching at Timber Creek in 2012, Lange became his mentor. “Mr. Lange was a great mentor to me. He helped me become the teacher that I am today,” said Bell.

Lange has a bachelor’s degree in history from Barrat College. Mr. Lange became a teacher because he, “wanted to make a difference in a small but measurable way.” With an outstanding AP exam pass rate he uses his bachelor’s degree in history to teach a college level class and not babying students to success but allowing them to find success for themselves.
