Timber Creek High School has so many clubs that sometimes the smaller clubs get lost in the crowd. One of these clubs is Cru high school, formerly known as Student Venture. Cru meets every other Monday night at seven pm. Although the location sometimes varies from the cafeteria or the courtyard, Cru is almost always on school grounds. Senior Grace Grissom says that “literally anyone is eligible to join Cru.” Cru high school has no club dues, no deadlines and no obligations.

The meetings are planned by a small group of students working with Cru employees. The Cru high school club is sponsored by the international missionary organization Cru. The Cru employee that currently aids Timber Creeks club is Lori Dawe. The student leaders have typically attended Cru consistently and help Emcee meetings, plan the meetings, lead small groups and help include all students.

Cru regularly uses themed meetings to make it more exciting. Cru is planning a thanksgiving outreach in the near future and a Christmas party later on. Senior Megan Richards calls Cru a “tight knit community” and “a place for students to come and learn about God and find a loving and accepting community.”  The usual meetings include games, music, a brief speaker, and small group discussion. Cru also promotes a yearly weekend retreat called Fastbreak, where the students spend a weekend at a camp on Valentine’s Day weekend with visiting speakers, live music and lots of games and discussion.

Cru has been a part of Timber Creek for many years and will hopefully continue to grow. If you want to find new friends, check it out, Cru is open to anyone and everyone.
