Miracle Network Dance Marathon
For The Kids
What Exactly Is Dance Marathon?
Dance Marathon is an event hosted by a school to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network to help many families with money for treatments that their children need. The kids who attend the event stand for an extended period of time throughout the day, for example Penn State University hosts their Dance Marathons for 46 hours, but while playing music, being with your friends, playing games etc. time flies by.
Starting with colleges and now at high schools Miracle Network Dance Marathon has helped many kids over the years. Since 1991 over 200 million dollars has been raised and donated to children hospitals all over North America. Timber Creek and East River High School have co-hosted dance marathons for their schools, each time they have been a success. In the past the events that these two schools have co-hosted they have been called rivalthon, because of the school’s’ ongoing rivalry they were still able to come together and pass their goal of money to be raised, making the events memorable.
On Friday, March 2nd, 2018, Timber Creek’s student government program will be standing for the kids. They started raising money in January and they will stop after Rival-thon which is what they call their dance marathons. Junior Lauren Rodda says “Dance Marathon has really helped me be more involved in such an amazing cause with kids that deserve all the money we raise”.
Dance marathon is more about just raising money it is about the experience and what you learn from it.
