OCPS recently had their annual teacher of the year event, honoring teachers for their hard work and dedication in the classroom. This year one of our very own teachers were nominated for the award.
Mr. Dencker is a computer sciences teacher at Timber Creek High School. He is very passionate about teaching and not just telling kids the material but making sure they learn the material. “I believe every student should have the opportunity to take computer science,” he claimed. Recently OCPS has appointed Mr. Dencker as the Teacher of the Year. Not only is he successful but his wife also won Teacher of the Year at her school!
Dencker makes himself approachable to all the students and at every opportunity try to get people interested in computer science. His passion reflects through his work and he is recognized for that. In his classes last year he had a 77 percent passing rate for the exam! He continues to teach kids not to know but to understand, which is why he is so successful in his job. He was so grateful just to be nominated for this prestigious award, “It’s an honor just to be here…” Dencker stated.
Timber Creek students and faculty are so proud of Mr. Dencker and all of his hard work. If just saying thank you wasn’t enough, he even won a car, a trip to Disney, and money! Mr. Dencker is now in the running for Teacher of the State of Florida. He continues to excel and the Timber Creek community could not be any prouder!
