SGA’s annual Pasta for Pennies (P4P) campaign will kick off is this coming Tuesday, Feb. 18. The Pasta for Pennies program is a change (change as in currency) collection program that seeks to assist the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through school-based grassroots donations. Olive Garden is a major sponsor of the program and rewards the winning teacher/class of each participating school with an in-class Pasta Party, with enough food for 30 attendees.
SGA is the coordinating group for the P4P campaign, and SGA students will be distributing collection boxes and other materials on Feb. 18 during 5th period. Every Friday until Mar. 14, SGA students will stop by during 5th period to gather and count the classes’ weekly collection.
An option would be to encourage interclass competition amongst students. Specifically, having all classes participate by donating and then keep track of the donations being raised by each class. The winning teacher’s winning class would be the one that receives the Pasta Party. If a decent number of teachers choose to go this route, the school collection total could reach high levels and make a difference in the lives of many patients.
