Prom is one of those quintessential events that students look forward to all year. This year, Timber Creek’s prom will be held on April 14, 2018 at the Hilton Orlando from 7:30 in the evening until midnight. Ticket sales have already ended and were open to all juniors and seniors who met the requirements to attend. The theme was announced to be Le Jardin des Fleurs, aka The Garden of Flowers. Students have been tirelessly preparing for the big event for a while now and with good reason, too. With dresses, tuxedos, shoes, corsages, boutonnieres and so many more things to pick out, the clock is ticking down quickly.

Girls are usually the ones who dream about prom all their lives. They imagine what their dresses are going to look like, what kind of shoes they’ll wear, who their date will be, what he’ll wear, the list goes on and on. Now that the day is almost here, though, all of those things aren’t the highlight of the night. For senior Paola Lucena, it’s about the experience of it all. “I can finally dance with my friends and I get to eat decent food and just hang out doing something we haven’t done before,” she said. Ultimately, that’s what it’s about. Dancing the night away with the people you love and spend so much time with are the memories that will live on forever. That’s not to say that everything has been left for last minute, however. Senior Octavia Schmude has had her dress since February. She said, “I fell in love with it when I saw it online and it was being sold at a really good price so I just went ahead and ordered it. I know that’s way ahead of time, but I knew there wasn’t going to be anything I’d like better and now it’s being sold for way more money, so I got pretty lucky.”

While most girls have everything they need and may just be missing some accessories, guys are still trying to figure out what they’re going to wear. Senior Brandon Garcia knows he’s either going to wear a tuxedo or a suit, but he has yet to actually get it. “My date has her dress and her heels and I think everything she needs, but me? I don’t have anything. I know I need to get it together,” he said. Garcia also mentioned that even if he’s still missing his outfit, he’s sure that he’ll show everyone that he can clean up nice, and his friends are sure they’ll do the same thing. Even though they might not be quite ready for the big night, the guys might be looking forward to it more than the girls. They’re ready to get down on the dancefloor and show everyone their moves, which are sure to steal the show. With a wide variety of music playing to suit everyone’s tastes, it’s a guarantee that all of those in attendance will be dancing to something they love.

Everyone is super excited for “the night to remember,” and to amp up the hype, students have enjoyed a Prom Spirit Week leading up to the big event. Dress up days have included Tacky Tourist, Flower Power, College/Career Day, Pajama Party, and Spirit Day to wrap it all up. With prom just a few days away now, Wolves are preparing all of the final details to have everything ready for the big night they’ve been looking forward to. It’s certain that everyone will be looking amazing in their formal attire and dancing the night away in Le Jardin des Fleurs.
