Since 2001, the school news team, Wolf TV, worked on the same set. The paint had begun to chip. The chairs were rusted. The floor was sticky. It was an old set that desperately needed to be redone.

In the summer of 2017, however, three students lead the redesign of the set. Alexander Bueno, Soren Sinelli, and Samuel Cutshall, all seniors, spent countless days in the classroom rebuilding the new set. The job started with a complete strip of all the old set pieces. The next step was repainting the floor black to avoid light bouncing off the floor. As the floor dried, the boys started building the large set pieces. They rebuilt the Wolf’s Den board, and with senior Hope Nelson’s help, repainted it. Bueno and Cutshall then constructed a new anchor’s stand, while Sinelli redesigned the lighting structures for the set. Finally, half of the wall was painted Chroma Green, to act as a permanent green screen for students to use during the show.

“In my life, I aspire to leave a better future for those working towards their success, so I decided to redo the set for future students,” said Bueno.

The full remodel is far from over. The crew is expecting new equipment by the end of the school year. New microphones, camera, and monitors are just some of the few items expected. The new equipment will allow Wolf TV to run much smoother than it has before. Once the new equipment has arrived, the set redesign will be complete.
