Survivor: Game Changers, the shows 34th season, is in full swing. The reality show airs at 8pm every Wednesday night on CBS. The season began on March 8th and there have been many twists and turns since the season premiere. The show features 20 players who have to live and work together on a desert tropical island. It is a fight for survival as well as a fight for dominance. The grand prize for being the ‘sole survivor’ is a hefty one million dollars. The players form alliances among themselves in order to protect one another from the weekly eliminations. Every few days, the players compete in challenges that take physical and mental strength to overcome the obstacles and puzzles. Some challenges are a test of endurance; players will have to stand, hold onto, or balance an object long enough to outlast the others. The real focus of the show is the interactions among players. There is drama among all of them as they fight to gain the most alliances to keep themselves in the game. Season 34 is titled “Game Changers”, and it features past players who are known for making big decisions to keep themselves alive in the game. Due to the high levels of all the players, the competition is more heated than ever.
There are many famous past players who are returning for another shot at winning the million dollars, and they will all do whatever it takes to win. Malcolm Freberg, a returning player from California, has a strategy in mind right from the start of the game. He plans to align with people he knows well or has seen play before in order to pick the strongest players for his side. Malcolm has the underlying desire to put himself in the spotlight and push his way through his competitors. Sandra Diaz-Twine is a two-time winner of the game is back for an attempt at a third win. She has knowledge of how to hunt and believes that will be beneficial to her making her way to the top. Freshman Emily Forsman says “I have been watching this show since I was little and I’m excited for this season. With players like these it should make for a good season.”
