Giving Back. Three seniors kneel by their customized sign and continue giving back to the community in the Homecoming Parade Walk! Great start to the year and many more memories to come, go wolves!

Timber Creek’s very own Cancer Awareness Society has made many contributions to the research and studies of cancer, as well as to the actual school itself! The cancer Awareness Society has fundraised for many different events at the school, participated in walks (such as homecoming walk), collected donations at local festivals, contributed to food drives, and much more!” “We do many fun activities to give back to the world all together as a group.” Said Jeanna Crespo, who loves to attend the meetings. This particular club is very organized and not only provides insight into the actual struggles people with cancer go through, but also provides many opportunities to help those with what they need.

Homecoming Parade Walk

As many other clubs did, the Timber Creek Cancer Awareness Society participated in the very popular, well known, and annual Homecoming Parade around October. Prior to the very important event, the very organized club officers and admins made sure to let all members know of the mandatory documents, clothing preferences, time and place, etc.  They came up with a great clothing theme (either to dress up in the club colors or dress up as a mime) and made sure all members were uniformed.

Thanksgiving Food Drive

For Thanksgiving, the Cancer Awareness Society made sure to go all out for the families who are in need, especially the families that have been affected by cancer. The club sponsor, Ms. Sinnadurai made it mandatory for each club member to bring in at least one specific food for our families in need. The food list was very specific and included a pretty good variety. The list included but was not limited to: canned foods, stuffing boxes, cornbread mix, etc. Of course, many people brought more than one type of food, so the food drive was a hit! “They always work as a community no matter what!” stated Destiny Bozan, a devoted member.

Toy Drive

One of the most recent fundraisers that the Cancer Awareness Society contributed to was the schoolwide Toy Drive. This toy drive was put in place in order to collect new toys for families with children who wouldn’t be receiving much this Christmas. The club sponsor and officers made sure to establish that each member should bring in at least one new toy for the kids. Even though they were given a specific kid with their preferences, they still brought in other toys on the side! Timber Creek has many different and very important clubs with the Cancer Awareness Society being just one of them! The CAS club always makes sure to go above and beyond with each walk, parade, food/toy drive, etc. that they take part in!
