As the holidays near, TC gets more excited for Christmas Break. All around, the school is preparing in many different ways: teachers cover their classrooms with wreaths, Christmas trees, ornaments, jingle bells. Clubs are presenting their Christmas volunteer events to their members and the different programs have their own way of celebrating during this time of year.
On the Friday (December 15) and Saturday (December 16) all of the performing art programs will be performing their annual Prism Concert. This year is different though because in previous years they have had only two shows, but this year they will perform three! The Prism concert was first created in 2015, and continues to get more and more popular. Choir, band, orchestra, drama, and theater all are working hard so the shows can be the most professional, polite, punctual for the audience. They practice for 3 hours three times a week and during the school day. This show requires planning logistics so the directors of each program have been meeting for months to figure this out. Brittney McCann, a junior clarinet player in the Timber Creek Wind Ensemble says, ” Yeah I love this time of the year because all of the performing art programs come together to put on an awesome show and it’s such a great experience.”
Many teachers are also decorating their classrooms inside, and out. Doors like Mrs. Bermudez’s is decorated as hot chocolate, Mrs.Bell’s is of a snowman, and many more have other holiday themes. Teachers and students constantly play Christmas music in class, in the hallway, at home, and while studying. Clubs are planning Christmas parties for their members, and students are buying their secret santa gifts for their personal parties they will attend.
