The following members of the TCHS Speech and Debate Team placed Oct. 5 and 6 at the Crestian Invitational at Cypress Bay HS in Weston, FL:
Jonathan Bauman and Xavier Ortega were Quarterfinalists Public Forum Debate. The boys finished 6th in a field of 86 competitors. This was the first big national circuit success for Bauman. Their placing earned them their first bid to the Tournament of Champions (TOC). Students need two bids to be fully qualified to the TOC.
Erica Jimenez and Matt Laird-Double were Octofinalists Public Forum Debate. Erica and Matt finished 18th in a field of 86.
The teams debated Resolved: Unilateral military force by the US is justified to prevent nuclear proliferation.
