Theatre students and stagecraft members have been working efficiently to ensure school entertainment this year. The 2013-2014 performance schedule includes “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” “Once Upon a Mattress,” and “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.”

With “Rabbit Hole,” the first show of the season, gone and done, theatre and stagecraft participants are well on their way to making “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” happen in time for opening night on Nov. 7. The show runs through Nov. 9. Admission will be $5.00 (no student discount).

“Students stay every day until six o’clock working; stagecraft students even come in on Saturdays, known as Tech Days. Students are acting, directing, designing, building, or painting for these shows,” said stagecraft teacher Justin Horn.

The following production, “Once Upon a Mattress,” was written as an adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale “The Princess and the Pea,” and is a popular choice for high school drama programs and community theatre groups. It will be performed from Jan. 23-25. Admission is $10.00, but students can attend on opening night at a discounted price of $5.00.

The last show of the season will be “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,” a Broadway musical which students can catch from April 10-12. Admission is $10.00,but students only have to pay $5.00 on opening night, and auditions are in December. It is based on the 1988 film of the same name.

So which show should you plan to see? “Each show is our best show,” said Horn.
