Districts 2021
By Caitlyn McCann
Timber Creek high school participated in the 2021 district festival. It took place at Dr. Phillips High School. It is a three day festival where students come together and show off their talents to other schools. Timber Creek thespian students performed a one act called, “Comedy of Errors”. They performed that as well as several other events. They received 5th place at the festival along with a superior rating.
Gabriella Borriello, who was a main character in the one act, explained what her favorite part of doing districts was. She says, “The overall experience and being able to work with such a great cast and crew.” Borriello loved the people she got to work with and being able to be a part of this experience. This is Borriello’s first high school district experience but has also done districts for middle school for all 3 years.
Fabi Vivolo, another Timber Creek student, who was also a main character in the one act explained if she would do it again and why. Vivolo says,” I would do districts again. My favorite part of districts is always the performances. The theatre community tends to appreciate technical aspects more and understand the jokes so they always tend to be a very supportive and energetic crowd which the actors on stage can always feel. I also love the freedom we get on Saturday’s where we can watch other people perform and go to workshops. Overall, districts are a great experience that also allows you to spend time with your friends.” Vivolo loved districts and spending time with amazing people. This is also Vivolo’s first district event in high school but, has also attended districts in middle school.
The district festival is enjoyed every year. It gives students a chance to express themselves through performing and meet lots of new people. It’s also good for students to see where they can improve and to see the rating they received from the judges. There will be improvement for every student. It’s a loved event by many and many will continue to do this event each year.
