Timber Creek has many programs to provide to students, but many are not sponsored by the school so they have to raise funds themselves. In this program, students are taught the anatomy and behavior of many domestic animals.
The vet assisting program has worked hard to fundraise and put themselves out there to get help from other sponsors. Vet Assisting has just finished up their new clinic and classroom and it looks astounding! Director of the program, Ms.Hubble, gives a giant thank you to our principal, Dr.Paduano, for paying and supplying them with their new furniture.
“Also, donations from outside sources have helped us a lot, though they were small donations for small things, a little goes a long way,” Hubble explained.
New items have been placed such as new cages which have food bowls inside and dividers to keep the dogs separate in them. They have new carts that provide IV bags that can be used on the fake dogs in the clinic; the fake dogs also are used to practice CPR on.
Dr. Paduano and Ms. Hubble had a vision of the clinic as it is now and through the funding with testing certification it became a reality and the clinic provides a hands on opportunity that the students need. The certification proves to the veterinarians who are picky about minors being in their clinic that these students are serious about being in there and that they work hard to be in that position.
Cages have separators and food and water bowls inside them.
Fake dogs provide great hands on opportunities to practice surgical procedures.
