Timber Creek’s Boys Volleyball took on Bishop Moore on Thursday, Apr. 23, and, after three sets, walked away with a 3-0 win.

“I think our serve receive was on today and that’s a big thing and part of our game” said head coach Cameron Stevens. “[If we can] run our offense and stay in system, we can be extremely successful.”

The game was closer than the final score indicated.

The Wolves went up 18-8 in the first set, before allowing a huge run by the Hornets, who eventually took the lead 26-25. However, the Wolves fought back, winning the set 29-27 off of an out by Bishop Moore.

The second set was closely contested, but the Wolves lead most of the way, almost always returning fire after a Hornets score. The Wolves eventually won the set 25-23, thanks to a side out off of a bad serve by Bishop Moore.

By the third set, Bishop Moore appeared to be out of energy, allowing Timber Creek to quickly build a seven point lead. The Hornets played sloppily throughout and fell 25-15, giving the Wolves a 3-0 victory over one of the top teams in the state.

“We had great communication and energy,” said senior Kyle McPherson.”[This] allowed us to keep momentum on our side and ultimately win.” McPherson finished with six kills.

The Wolves also benefited from senior Tyler Womick’s 35 digs and senior Jasseim Obie’s 15 kills.

“We’re starting to shine at the right moment,” said Stevens. “The chemistry is just really, really clicking, and I couldn’t be more proud of these guys.”

The Wolves finished the season with a 21-4 record, ranked as one of the top teams in the state of Florida heading into the district semifinals.

“This season was a huge learning experience for myself and the rest of the team.” said McPherson. He added “we learned how to play together and get this amazing chemistry we have now.”

The Wolves will be playing in the district semifinals at home on Wednesday, Apr. 29 against Freedom High School.
