Auditions

General requirements

Students will be require to perform a scale, etude, excerpt and sight read.

Scales

Students will be required perform one (1) of the following scales and arpeggios.

• Middle School: 1 major scale and argeggio, two octaves. C, G, D, A, F, Bb, Eb. Scales will be played with even eighth notes using seperate bows at quarter note = 60-80. Scales must be memorized.
• High School: 1 scale and arpeggio will be chosen per instrument from the following major scales: Ab, Eb, Bb, F, C, G, D, A, E –  2 octaves are required. Extra credit will be given for a successful 3rd octave with no penalty for an unsuccessful attempt.The scale and arpeggio will be played in even eighth notes using separate bows, with a quarter note tempo of 60-80 bpm. Scales must be memorized.

Sight Reading

Students will given a short example (8-16 bars) to sight read
