My Beloved Garden

The high walls soared towards the sky line as if the clouds that were formed about, my substantial garden never was neglected, I was always making sure my vegetables and plants were thriving to become the fullest they can become. I was prideful of how lovely I kept it, but others that lived around would not even dare to lay a single step upon my cared-for soiled in which they knew consequences would occur. Though most days I’d only notice glances of people trying to take a peek but not for long. However some days I’d see this woman, peering through the little window in the back of her house looking at my beloved garden. Oh, how she stared for minutes repeatedly at my flourishing rapunzel flower beds. A couple days later as I was tending to my garden, I had noticed a handful of rampion missing. I thought of any possible suspects though the woman is the one person who would only come to mind, I do not think she had done it  herself. I’ve never seen her leave the house nor open the door, perhaps she had someone else do the stealing for her. A gloomy evening arrived, the dark clouds formed ahead blocking out the gold rays of the sun but then I saw it. A man, but a thief also trying to be quiet and sneaky as he climbed into my garden over the walls. As I stood before him I shouted with all the rage inside of me. “How can you dare! Descend into my garden and steal my flowers you thief! You shall suffer for it!” As the man fearly looked at me he said, “let mercy take the place, I only made up my mind to do it out of necessity. My wife saw your rampion from the window, and felt such a longing for it that she would have died if she had not got some to eat.” He was only motivated by the selfishness of his partner, the woman who stayed longing for my flowers at the back window of her home, he was only doing a task for the thief herself, my punishment shall not harm either of them but I will make sure this is something they never forget, something that they shall sit with and remember for the rest of their lives. Looking at the man I said, “If the case be as you say, I will allow you to take away with you as much rampion as you will, only I make one condition, you must give me the child which your wife will bring into this world; it shall be treated well, and I will care for it like a mother.” With terror in his eyes and no other options to take, he agreed to everything I said. I had been awaiting the time when his wife was brought to bed to give birth to the baby that will be mine, as I took the child of mine I had decided on the name Rapunzel.

I saw Rapunzel grow into a beautiful child under the sun. When she turned 12, I had simply sent her to live in the forest and a beautiful tower tho I purposely made sure there was no stairs or doors but in the middle layed a window where I was stand at the bottom and cry “ Rapunzel, Rapunzel let down your hair to me.”` As I called out to her, i’d see her braided hair, as golden as the sun find its way to wrap around the hooks tethering downward. I reached out towards her unfastened braids and gripped the ladder weaved hair towards the top. Through these two years I knew nothing of the company Rapunzel had been having until one day I was arriving towards the tower, I lay at the bottom of this dense forest, the moss covered trees hide the bark underneath, awaiting the radiant gold hair. I go to ascend up bearing a basket with items to be given to Rapunzel as I climb I hear her start to shout from above. “Tell me, Dane Gothel how it happens that you are so much heavier for me to draw you up than the young king’s son-he is with me in a moment.” With anger and pure fury to what I had before me I squawked. “Ah! You wicked child. What do I hear you say? I thought I had separated you from all the world, and yet you have deceived me.” I will not allow her to do such terrible things behind my back as if I did not give her such a lavish lifestyle secluded away from the world. I yanked her braids, I wrapped them fastly around my left arm for I shall show her that there will be no mercy when you disobey your own mother. Her shiny hair laid around my arm as I reached out for the shiny blades that laid awaiting the punishment I must induce. I started cutting, snipping, chopping every lock to the beginning of where it starts. They dropped from my heards and landed on the creaky old worn out wooden flooring. They will go to no waste, for I still have a plan with my broken black heart I casted Rapunzel out of this tower, declaring her to live in the desert with her own mistakes and pain that she had caused. I took the lifeless cut braids and strung them on the hooks as we used to do before. I was waiting until I heard the right words, and than that is when a man’s voice below had said “Rapunzel, Rapunzel let down your hair to me.” I dropped the braided hair and awaited the man who I was going to show no mercy towards. I waited with my striking venomous snake like eyes on the figure of a boy who is trying to steal my precious daughter from me. I yelled at the top of my lungs with all the anger inside of me “Aha! You would fetch your dearest, but the beautiful bird sits no longer singing in the nest; the cat has got it, and will scratch your eyes as well. Rapunzel is lost to you; you will never see her again.” With fear rushing through his blood I saw before me him leaping out of the tower window . No one is ever able to escape my wrath, as I looked down below I saw him land of a bed of thorns piercing those eyes of his. How foolish he was to think he can leave without being harmed, this boy is lucky that I did not take the life of his while he I had the chance. I saw him bump into things, trip of the trunks and branches of the forest for a blind boy he must not get far with no eyes. He will wander the earth looking for his love that I banished, maybe this is my forever happily ever after.
