senior discusses his future and passions

April, 12, 2019 — Passion is a very strong emotion. It’s what drives people to pursue and this is no exception for senior, Kelly Excellent. He’s made it clear that in the future he wants to get into the military and be financially stable enough to follow his passion for cars.

When asked about what his passion was, he responded, “Cars, I just really love cars. If I could put into words how much I love cars into words, I don’t think there would be enough words.”

But there are many cases where if you don’t have money, you can’t really follow your passion and this especially applies to Kelly, “I just can’t see myself being broke because there’s so many things I wanna do in life that involve money. Like, I have a hobby for cars, obviously I wanna own multiple cars and I wanna fix up and make my own. I can’t do that with no money, I also can’t do that with no education.”

Despite the financial hurdles he has to face, Kelly has the idea of killing two birds with one stone: follow his dream of getting into the military and in turn making enough money for the future. “Biggest dream right now is to make it to the military”. He says that he wants to travel the world and serve his country. His plan is to move up ranks to increase his pay, which is actually one of the reasons why he joined ROTC, “Because I’m in ROTC, I’m gonna start off as an E3”. to clarify, an E3 (Lance Corporal) is a rank in the marine corps. With the money that he’s earned from serving in the military, he plans to go to study at a university. “I would study in the automotive engineering field”.

Sometimes in life, stuff doesn’t always go as planned, and Kelly is well aware of that. C “Senior year is pretty much over, what happens after? What if the military doesn’t work out?” At some point, everyone’s felt the same way, where they aren’t sure if life will go as they expect it.

“At the end of the day, some things just aren’t meant to be, that’s the way I look at things. If stuff doesn’t work as planned, that just means it wasn’t meant to be. That there’s still something out there for you, you just gotta have to search it. You never know until you try.”
