Does Homework teach responsibility

Does Homework teach responsibility

         By Ronald Andries Jr(12)

High School students are given a lot of homework to prepare themselves for the real world. With classes such as Pre-calculus , AP and IB students are hammered with homework but how much students actually do their homework? Teens who do their homework tend to be more responsible then Teens who don’t do their homework

In cypress creek high school 25 kids were asked if they did

their homework .15 said yes while 10 said no.Out of that 15 they were asked how many hours a night they spent on their homework. The graph below shows amount of hours students have spent on homework.

All students spent over 2 hours a night on homework.Students where then asked if they were responsible and 13 said yes while 2 said no.”I’ve been turning in homework on time all my life, i think it helps me become more responsible throughout my life “ said Marcus Salmao a senior at cypress creek.

Students who didn’t do their homework or don’t spend anytime on it say the tend to be less responsible .”i don’t do most of my schoolwork on time its usually late, and I usually forget to do chores at home”said Noel Mckoy another senior at Cypress Creek. But some students claim they don’t do a lot of homework but still are very responsible.” I don’t do my homework all the time but i’m still very responsible , i work and i watch my siblings sometimes” said Robert Andrade.

This shows that  they’re students out there who don’t spend time on homework but are still responsible out of school.

Just because you don’t do homework or spend time studying doesn’t mean your not responsible. But homework has shown and proven to help kids become and stay responsible for and keep them ready for the future of life.
