SUPPORTING YOUR ARTISTICALLY GIFTED AND TALENTED STUDENTS

This web page focus on resources and strategies to help parents and teachers to support  the artistically gifted and talented student. Research indicates that by identifying and understanding the characteristics and behaviors of  artistically exceptional students, parents and teachers can develop effective strategies to better meet their  educational, emotional, and social needs.  These additional strategies can be beneficial to all students.

Artist, Alexandra Nechita said it best as he describes how personal the creative process can be for the individual artist:
“Sometimes I get so immersed in my paintings I’m just somewhere else. I create my own universe that you get to see little by little through every painting I work at. And every painting I create is part of me going out little by little to all of you.”

 EDITION 1

There are two sets of characteristics associated with visually gifted and talented students: behavioral traits and the characteristics of their artwork.  It is not likely that a student will have all of the characteristics, but a student who possesses special talent in art will probably exhibit many or even most of them.
