Inauguration of our 45th President

The most important seat in America has been up for grabs since Barack Obama was reelected in 2012. This seat was filled by Donald Trump at his presidential inauguration, January 20.

Inauguration day is considered sacred in the United States. It marks the beginning of a president’s four year term and has been celebrated since 1937. Charlie Brotman has been inaugurating presidents since the Eisenhower Administration in 1953.

This year to switch it up, Donald Trump booted Brotman out and brought in Steve Ray, a Trump supporter, to have his party’s voice prominent.

Before Trump came out to be sworn in our former presidents came out to show support for the new president. Even his former female opponent, Hillary Clinton, came dressed in white with high hopes for the event.

By 10:30 a.m. the inauguration began with musical performances for an hour before the opening remarks followed by the swearing in of Vice President Mike Pence.

At precisely noon, before you could blink, Barack Obama’s term was over and Chief Justice John Roberts was administering Trump’s oath of office. Our new president followed with his inaugural address, where he promised change and unity of our nation.

The rest of the afternoon consisted of the signing of documents and a 1.5 mile parade down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House. Trump and Pence waved to their gracious voters and ignored those who decided to protest.

Trump and Pence finished the evening with three official inaugural balls beginning at 9 p.m and ended an hour before the days end at 11:00 p.m.

January 20 was a day to appreciate our 45th president but on Saturday, January 21, Washington took a turn against Trump. At 10:00 a.m the Women’s March on Washington began. The meaning behind the march was to inform the world that women will stand together, and stand only for equality.

Not only did women stand together but so did men and children, with signs, chants, and passion.

History was made on Inauguration day for our 45th president, and it was made again the next day with people who refused to let their voices go unheard.
