The Edgewater Eagles took on the Boone Braves on January 20 at home. The game was highly contested with no clear victor being decided until the dying moments of the game. At the end, the Eagles fell 57-54.

The Eagles had the lead with four minutes left but the Boone Braves were able to grit their teeth and overcome a nine-point deficit to win the game.

The comeback started when Boone’s Sean Halloran made a three-point shot, then around 90 seconds later his teammate was able to tie up the game by hitting two back-to-back threes in a 20-second span. This tied the score 52-52 with only a little time to go.

The Braves didn’t stop there with Patrick Luban’s layup with only a minute to go, giving them the lead 54-52.

With only a couple seconds left on the clock, the score was 57-54, Edgewater’s last chance of victory relied on Anfernee Simons with a potential game-tying three, but it was off the mark and Boone was able to get the rebound as time expired.

The Eagles left with their heads held high and look to have a different outcome on their next game versus the Apopka Blue Darters on January 23.
