AP Spanish Classes Visits Dali Museum Emerald Paul | February 25, 2017 | Academics | No Comments Mrs. Ivette Acevedo’s first period AP Spanish class for Native Speakers. Mrs. Ivette Acevedo’s fifth period featuring non native speakers from sophomore,junior and senior grade levels. Bianca Carson and Julia Cambridge share a friendly hug outside the Dali Museum as they wait for the doors to open. After receiving personal listening devices the students and chaperones make there way up to the third floor of the museum to the Frida Kahlo exhibit is being housed until April. The Spanish students listen on to the brief summaries of each piece of art while viewing. Non native speakers Emily Barlow,Harper Self and Julia Cambridge observe the art in awe of its beauty. Alexandra Davis takes a closer look at the art,leaning in to view all the small details. Anthony Das reads through a few of Kahlo’s personal journal pages.Kahlo kept a journal while bed ridden in her later years. Julia Cambridge and Seaira Stevens view a short documentary on Frida’s life.the informational video included the story behind the artists relationship with her husband Diego Riveria who was also an artist. Emerald Paul and Fred Asare-Konadu take a look at the amazing view of the garden outside the museum. Most museums have a no touch policy buy outside in the museums garden area Salvador Dali’s Art is recrated and made for guests to interact including this avante-garde bench Searia Stevens rests on. The outside garden features a small maze for guests to explore. Students were surprised to find at the center of the maze only a tree stood.No hidden art but a hidden meaning as the maze was constructed to gather your thoughts and reflect. Hanging from the large tree in the garden are a few “vines” where guests are encouraged to tie their wristbands and make a wish if they please. The students take a break from there walk resting on a rock imported from Spain.
