Below I will show you some of the events happening in the 2018 Winter Olympics. The games are scheduled for Friday, February 9 at the Olympic Stadium in PyeongChang, on Saturday 10th they will award the first PyeongChang 2018 gold medal.
Ice hockey
This tournament was held in France where only men participated. It was the second Olympic championship that also served as a world championship. The competition began on January 28, 1924 until Sunday 3 of February 1924, represented by the Granites of Toronto. The United States and Great Britain took the silver and the bronze while the contestants included France and Sweden. There is a system called ”Bergvallei” that was used in these Olympic games of 1920. Olympic winter games are international sporting events that are normally held every 4 years, in this period of time this is known as ” Olympiad ”. This type of game was carried out in France. The first games of the Olympics were held in Athens and 14 nations and 241 athletes met to compete in 43 events.
Curling
It’s a sport that is performed by sliding stones on the ice towards the area of the target, which is in four concentric circles. This game is played with two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy rocks through the ice sheet that is encrusted to the house, which is a circular target marked on the ice. Each team has eight stones, with each player throwing two. The purpose of this game is to accumulate the highest score for a game; points are scored for the stones that rest closest to the center of the house at the end of each end, which is completed when both teams have thrown all their stones. A game usually consists of eight or ten points.
Figure skating
This is a sport that takes place in duos. The groups use skates on ice. This sport was the first to be held in winter, even though it was included in all the Olympic Games. In each of these sports you have to have discipline but the four most important Olympic figure skating disciplines are singles for men, female singles, pairs skating and ice dancing. In this sport they use skates on both feet and it has a blade that has a groove on the bottom that creates two different edges. Sometimes judges prefer skaters to slide on one edge of the blade like a flat edge. There was a time when skaters used “the sweet spot” of the skate, better known as a rocker, many people know it as “the most rounded part of the blade”.
