What is cat grass and why is it beneficial?

Grass, it’s all around us. Who knew there were different types? You may be wondering what type of grass this is because it’s not common for people to know there’s more than one. Well, this grass isn’t for humans, it’s for cats! An organization called FFA, or Future Farmers of America is holding their first plant sale of the year to sell special grass for our loveable cat friends, known as cat grass.

Mrs. Hubble, the schools vet, tells us about cat grass, “ Cat grass is a mixture of wheat that helps a cat’s digestive system run more smoothly. It is a healthy alternative to cats eating grass from the outside.” Cat grass is a laxative for cats that also gives them nutrients that helps them develop and grow. Cat owners know just how much cats love eating and playing with grass. You might as well buy a kind of grass that will be beneficial to your cat. Depending on how much you buy, the cost can vary. These lovely plants come in beautifully designed mugs. If you want the mug, then that would cost you $10. Otherwise, it would be $7 for a pot, $5 for a square pot, or 2 for $7.

Along with Mrs.Hubble, Isabella Intagliata, a student of hers states, “ cat grass isn’t just beneficial to cats, humans can put it in their smoothies and juices.” Cat grass is the same as wheat grass and wheat grass has many benefits, such as reducing cholesterol, reducing blood sugar regulations, and it even has lots of nutrients that are very beneficial to our bodies.

To end with, cats tend to eat household plants and if you let them outside. Not only will your cat ruin your inside plants, but they could also ruin your lawn and maybe even your neighbor’s lawn. If your cat is even munching on grass or your plants, they’re probably having stomach trouble or even trying to get rid of hairballs. Regular grass tends to make your feline friends throw up as a way to get rid of their hairballs. Do your pet a favor and just buy them cat grass, in order to stop hairballs from even forming, it will also save you the trouble of having to clean up your cats vomit.
