College is something many students think about during their high school experience. It affects their motivation for good grades, the clubs they join, and the classes they take. An important thing that high school students at Timber Creek must think about is if they want to go out of state, or stay in Florida. Junior Myeisha Scott says that she would prefer to go out of state. “I have lived out of state before and from that I’ve learned that there are so many more opportunities when you don’t restrict yourself to one state.” She would like to go to Princeton (which is in New Jersey).

There are many great schools outside of Florida that students may want to go to, especially if they have a certain major in mind and want to go to a school with a great program for that. Sophomore Janessa Cope also wants to go out of state, she wants to be a veterinarian and her reason for leaving is that some of the best vet schools are out of state which includes Cornell, which she is specifically interested in.

However, some people see value in going to school within Florida. Senior Reagan Fink thinks that staying in state is what she wants to do. “It’s cheaper and a lot closer to home.” This is true, usually tuition for going to college in state is cheaper than for schools out of state.  She is also lucky because the school she is interested in is in state anyway.Overall there are a variety of opinions on weather leaving or staying in Florida is better, luckily we all get to make the choice ourselves.

Crazy for Cornell! Cornell University is the vet school Sophomore Janessa Cope would like to go to if she goes out of state. “I have wanted to go to Cornell for their Vet program for about a year now. Cornell has a great vet program and is a well respected university,” said Cope.

Princeton Princess! Featured above is Myeisha Scott in a Princeton University Shirt. The Junior says that “Princeton is a school I would like to get into,” which is an Ivy League school outside of Florida. This is one of the out of state schools that Scott would like to leave Florida for.
