They are responsible for planning many events and activities, which can be difficult when the threat of COVID-19 looms. After last year’s uncertainties and cancellations, Timber Creek’s students have been hoping for a normal year. In particular, the seniors are looking forward to many events: Senior Sunrise, Homecoming, Pep Rallies, Prom, and Graduation. Luckily for them, these events are looking to become reality.

In charge of the Senior Class is the officers. These officers campaigned tirelessly last year in order to prove their leadership capabilities, and succeeded in winning over the class. Leading the pack is President Lilian Castro, followed by Vice President Olivia Pobocik, Secretary Campbell Goff, and Treasurer Peyton Prior. This group of strong-minded girls has been working all summer in order to create an unforgettable senior year, even through the challenges.

In charge of the senior class, Lilian Castro has had the most responsibility so far. Castro explained, “The most challenging part is definitely creating events that everyone will enjoy so that no one is left out.” However, this year is also bringing a lot of positives to the class. She explained, “The most rewarding things about being an officer are working with the senior class to make our year memorable and getting to know new people that I haven’t gotten the chance to over the last four years.” Hopefully, Castro’s efforts will prove to be successful, even with the rising number of COVID-19 cases.

Also excited for this year’s events is Student Body President, senior Lana Phillips. Phillips assists in organizing many school events and is a representative of the entire student body. This can be a challenging role, especially when she is “managing a part-time job, looking for colleges, and just trying to get through everyday classes.” While Phillips is balancing her tight schedule with being President, she also loves “being able to express [her] ideas and plan fun events for students to enjoy.”

Castro had one last word of advice for the senior class, saying “Don’t take this year for granted! Come out and enjoy every event we have because there is no telling what will happen in the future, so all we can do now is enjoy what we do have.”
