No matter the condition, the Timber Creek girls’ soccer always prevail! They beat Freedom high school with their strong starting eleven. “We had a great game the other night,” said sophomore Haley Rizzo, “I’m very proud of the team.” The starters consisted of Rizzo, Peyton Vazquez, Grace Howell, Victoria Sierra, Katie Ingoglia, Julia Rodriguez, Kasey Adkins, Reagan Young, Lauren Hicks, Lauren Torres, and Tatiana Padilla. It was an aggressive game that consisted of numerous fouls and yelling. Before water break, Ingoglia made a forward run down the left side and cuts it back to pass it to Rizzo, who took a close shot that just skimmed the top crossbar. Later after that Freedom earns a free kick outside the eighteen-yard box, but was kicked out wide, resulting in a goal kick. Four minutes later though, Torres dribbles down the right side and crossed it in the air towards the back post, meeting Rizzo’s foot with an inside volley right into the back of the net, making the score 1-0. The crowd was ecstatic and noticed Rizzo’s constant work up front and in the box.

After continuous work, there was a quick substitution with Olivia Flack coming in for Lauren Torres but was switched again when Morgan Ramirez came in for her.  When the clock showed fourteen, Timber Creek had a free kick off of a foul outside the eighteen-yard box and resulted in a close shot right over. After that, Jillian Morrea came in for Rizzo. The girls kept playing hard and had a couple of attacking runs that started with Howell, Hicks, and Ingoglia, but was unable to be finished. The half ended with a few substitution right before that was Haley coming in for Hicks and Bruna Baldivieso for Ingoglia. The score was 1-0 as the lady wolves headed for the locker room.

After getting a quick break, the team was back and fighting the chilly weather. As the whistle blew, right away Torres took the ball down the right wing crossed it into the box, but unfortunately was not made contact with towards the goal. Right after that, a foul was called on Sierra in the middle but was taken and intercepted by Sierra again. She looked up but was fouled from behind and the referee called a foul for Timber Creek. Sierra passes it to Howell who lays it off to Rodriguez up the right flank with her run from the back. Rodriguez takes it up the Freedom end line and earns a corner. Torres took the corner and blasts it into the middle, but was cleared by a Freedom defender, causing another corner for Timber Creek on the other side. Torres took it again and it met Howell, who took a touch and hit a close shot that flew just above the crossbar.

Whilst the corner was being taken, Ingoglia was fouled inside the box. This meant a penalty kick for Timber Creek being taken by Ingoglia herself. As the crowd stays quiet in suspense, Ingoglia lines up behind and ball and puts it away into the low right corner, with the keeper diving to the right, making the score 2-0 to the wolves. The crowd went wild and the team celebrated and ran back together after the goal. In the last minute, there were two substitutions, Torres for Gonzalez and Kayla Small for Hicks. Once a little bit of time has passed, the referee blew the final whistle, making the score 2-0 to Timber Creek. All the players shook hands and celebrated their earned victory.
