Let’s S-T-E-P! Timber Creek teachers showcase their skills at the 2018-2019 Pep Rally. Mrs. Perry (far left) explains, “I had so much fun performing. The energy of the student body at both pep rallies was what got me really excited to perform!” Students were so excited to see their teachers take on a challenge!

Since school has begun, it’s time to highlight a teacher for the wonderful things they have done so far this year! This teacher has passion that shines from a mile away. She cares deeply for her students, and never fails to put a smile of everyone’s face! She is so organized and manages her time very well. She is one of the most outgoing teachers who is not afraid of a challenge. This teacher is the wonderful Mrs. Tara Perry!

Mrs. Perry has been the dance director since 2012 and has watched the program flourish since then. She has continued to enhance the program each year by making two teams, adding team captains, and adding more performances year round! The program is continually growing as more and more people become interested in the art. The program consists of many different levels to accommodate all types of dancers. There really is a class for everyone whether you’ve had experience or none at all. There is so much room for growth throughout the program as each year as Mrs. Perry holds auditions for students looking to pursue a higher ranked class.

Mrs. Perry is continually staying active within the school as well. For many years, Mrs. Perry co-sponsored the Senior Class with Mrs. Bell. But as soon as Mrs. Perry decided to step down from that roll she picked up another task. She has introduced the National Honors Society for Dance Arts to Timber Creek High School and is the sponsor of the club.

Most recently, Mrs. Perry, along with several other teachers participated in the Pep Rally as the element of surprise for the Step Team. Mrs. Perry mentioned, “It was a lot of fun preparing to perform in the pep rally. I was nervous that I wouldn’t be able to pick up the routine since it’s so different from the dance styles I’m used to, but it was a challenge I loved.” On top of that she was able to share this experience with other teachers!

How do we thank such an amazing teacher? The truth is we can’t. Teachers in general have changed students’ lives and they don’t get nearly as much credit as they deserve. Mrs. Perry continues to work hard and contribute to make this school a better place and deserves to be recognized as the teacher spotlight!
