Junior student Yairee Robinson does independent pantomimes for Acting 1 class. "I like pretending to be someone else, it's a new experience." Robinson says. You can learn about pantomimes with Ryan Skiles.

Acting is something that can help with many things: overcoming stage fright, having confidence, and learning to converse with others. It gives you that sense of pride, and joy that you didn’t think you could achieve. Here in Timber Creek High, acting class does just that. It teaches you that coming out of your shell for the first time, isn’t something you would expect to be full of discomfort. In fact, it enlightens you to be out in the open with all of your thoughts with your peers supporting you through every step of the way.

Acting teacher Ryan Skiles takes care in providing students with the stability in collaborating with others in order for them to get out of their comfort zone. With the help that they receive, it gives students the opportunity to connect with themselves and others around them deeply. “I love seeing students who start with very little skills and grow into wonderful little actors by using the tools that I teach them,” Skiles said.

Junior, Abraham Ali has been into acting since the first grade and since then has had a strong passion for it. When it comes to performing, he still gets a little nervous, but he manages to get past it. “When I perform I get really nervous and super excited. I do what I gotta do, and hopefully don’t fall off the stage,” Ali said. Being in acting class has helped him overcome many obstacles he didn’t think he was able to get past.

Acting can help you accomplish anything you can think. You can gain friends, confidence, and respect. With each new tool you are given in this class is like opening up a door to numerous of possibilities.
