College Spotlight: Duke
Duke is among one of the most competitive colleges in the United States, with an exceedingly low acceptance rate of 9% in 2016, a lower acceptance rate than some Ivy League universities, like Brown University, Cornell University, and Dartmouth University. Though it is not part of the Ivy League school system, it is regarded with equal academic prestige, and are often a reach school for many students. The average ACT scores of the admitted class of 2021 ranged from 31-34, and the average SAT scores ranged 1390-1510.
Located in Durham, North Carolina, Duke University is home to over 14,000 students, with a hefty tuition of $51,500 per year; however, the university is need-blind and bases tuition per student based on financial need. However, the students must first be accepted and have their financial need assessed through FAFSA.
