Dear Seniors

Dear Seniors,

To many, it seems as though the years have somehow sped past you and it was only just yesterday you were entering the hall of Edgewater for the first time. As a senior, it’s easy to get caught up in what lies ahead but don’t forget about what you’re leaving behind.

You’re saying goodbye to Friday night football games and nights spent laughing over curly fries in a sticky booth at Gabriel’s. Cheering at pep rallies while the band plays a tune we know all too well.  All these moments and memories you were so busy living, not realizing they were fleeting, are gone.

You will share one last lunch with your best friend and wish they hadn’t  decided to go to some university on the opposite coast. And you’ll walk around with your yearbook asking everyone to sign and write down the memories you thought would never end. You’ll look around the halls that one last time and notice how many people you’ve met and will miss dearly.

You’re standing at the edge, a cap in one hand and a gown in the other, and once you walk across that stage know that the things will change. That once the tassels have been switched over and the caps tossed in the air life won’t be the same.

Embrace the change, don’t fear the unfamiliar faces and new scenery. Find people who make you laugh and support you. Go out and try that little sandwich shop that everyone on campus raves about. Explore your new world. And if you ever feel lost come home. Edgewater will always welcome you with open arms.

After all once an Eagle always an Eagle.
