Twitter Doubles Character Limit

What a time to be alive, Twitter has expanded its character limit.

The original 140 characters have doubled and everyone is taking advantage, expressing more of what’s on their mind.

Founded in 2006 Twitter is a fast-paced social media platform that allows you to say what’s on your mind in short, concise blurbs.

Many criticized Twitter in the past, saying it limited their ability to get their thoughts across. Others liked the challenge of making a statement in such few words.

Twitter’s Company said the idea came after finding that users who type in Japanese, Korean and Chinese could fit more information in 140 characters than say someone typing in English or Spanish.

Twitter has become an epicenter for political drama and clashes in the celebrity world and now with the character expansion, those quarrels and arguments will be even longer.

“I don’t think it will affect what people type or say. They’re still going to be saying the same things. They will be just be saying a little more than usual,” Elena Parino, senior said.

Whether you use Twitter avidly or not it’s safe to say this new feature has shaken up the social media world.
