Fridge Notes November 9

Congratulations to last week’s Principal’s Award winner, Prianka!

Just a reminder to turn in your Walk-a-thon donations by this Wednesday, November 11th.  Students who donate $25 for the Walk-a-thon will get to attend the highly-anticipated “Dance Party” at the end of the day on Friday, November 13th (the Walk-a-thon day). Additional donation and registration forms are available at the front office.

We are having a Spirit Week to build excitement and momentum for all of our fundraising efforts. Here is the schedule:IMG_4199

This week your child will be bringing home a NON-FICTION Turkey Book Report this week. Please help your child pick an informational book on his/her level to read for the report. The report looks like a turkey, but your child may select any informational topic (airplanes, planets, weather, etc.). Please also make sure that your child is completing the book report with 100% effort, which includes complete sentences with appropriate capitalization and punctuation. Encourage your child to “sell” the book to their classmates by including interesting, important facts. The book report is due next Thursday, November 19th.

This week we are also beginning our Native American rotations to learn about 6 different groups. This is one of my favorite units of the year, due in large part to all of the amazing picture books I get to incorporate. Next time you are  at the library with your child, check-out some of the high-quality and beautiful Native American children’s literature. Some of my favorite books include The Legend of the Indian Paintbrush, The Mud Pony, The Rough-Face Girl and Arrow to the Sun.
