Pit Crew students Greg and Gian-Carlo enthusiastically screamed “Another one!” They were so excited to be taking a picture and did not want it to stop!

PIT Crew is a program where students serve students with some sort of disability. Upperclassmen can take this program as one of their electives during the day. It is a good way to interact and maybe step out of your comfort zone. It really opens your eyes and helps you realize they are normal people like you!

In this class, you serve the students and accommodate to them to get them through their day with a smile on their face! They do activities like math, science, and reading and play games. Some of the games they play include the five second rule game, uno, connect four, etc. Some of the activities they like to do is take walks around the school, draw and tell jokes.

There are two different classes, one is for students with more severe physical disabilities and the other class is for students with learning disabilities. They all interact with each other in the nicest ways possible and they love to join the others in different activities. This is a good class to join because it shows you how a small amount of time with someone, disability or not, can change their day and their spirit.

From experience, this class shows you to be nice to everyone despite their differences and peoples viewpoints on them. In reality, they want to be treated just like the average person. It’s not about what they have, or what they look like on the outside, it’s truly about what is on the inside. If you are looking for ways to interact with the community and feel like you are making a difference in someone’s life, PIT crew is a great option to join!
