World Heart Day was celebrated this year on Thursday, September 29. On this day, in the Timber Creek gymnasium, students had the opportunity to learn helpful CPR techniques from the Orlando Fire Department during their physical education classes. This event was organized after OCPS became the third district in Florida to pass a policy requiring all students in the county to be trained in hands-only CPR. Timber Creek is one of the 23 schools that participated in the training, which lasted from 7:15 a.m. until 2:15 p.m. There were 50 CPR mannequins, to which students applied what they learned. This beneficial training allowed students to learn how to potentially save a real life.
