Unlike most competitions between the classes, the annual Kiss the Pig fundraiser has a purpose. Rather than just providing bragging rights, needy families will benefit. This annual fundraising event run by the Sophomore Class Council provides Thanksgiving dinners to campus families in need. Students can give donations to teachers collecting money through Friday, Sept. 17. The teacher who raises the most money will kiss a pig at halftime of the home football game against Winter Park. The Student Government Association will purchase food for a a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
“It’s such a worth while cause. It’s not really that fun to kiss a pig, but because of what it means to the recipients [of the Thanksgiving baskets], it’s worth it knowing that we raise money to help students at Boone. That’s a good thing,” Senior Class Sponsor and reigning Kiss the Pig winner, Sarah Kittrell said.
