The smell of freshly baked cookies fills the hallway, signaling that Baking Braves is at it again.

The Baking Braves creates a place for students to come together and give back to the community, while earning community service hours and gaining the feeling of knowing someone’s life has been impacted for the better.

“Baking Braves is a service organization where students get together to bake goods and donate to local charities,” sponsor Meg Ramis said. “Since Home Economics isn’t offered anymore, we felt this was an opportunity for students who wanted to learn how to bake.”

Baking Braves participates in multiple events throughout the year including baking for the Social Justice Club event; The Fifth Quarter. Five board members for Baking Braves are involved in the Always Wear Your Seatbelt Club and wanted to help by providing desserts.

The club took part in the gingerbread house “Jingle Jam” contest Wednesday, Nov. 23, at SODO. On Dec. 17, the club plans to bake desserts for the Hubbard House, a place where families can stay free while their child is in a nearby hospital.

On baking days, the club bakes in Room 214. Students are always able to sign up and help make a difference. To join, stop by Room 13-215 for more information. Listen to the announcements for upcoming meetings, held in Ramis’ room.
