A child anxious for the December holiday, to wake up and find a present is a great occasion. The Art Club is sponsoring Toys for Tots, hoping to provide a better Christmas for as many children and parents as they can.
“I love it’, Toys for Tots puts me in the holiday spirit,” Art Club sponsor Nicole Moitoza said.
The Art Club is accepting cash and new unwrapped presents from Nov. 28- Dec. 9. Cash and unwrapped presents both help equally; the cash is used to buy toys that are discounted through vendors. The Art Club is hoping to collect 150 toys for Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.
As well as having students participate for Toys for Tots, Boone is a community drop off center. The Art Club wanted to participate in this charity event because they competed in a gingerbread house packaging design competition at the Festival Bay Mall and their theme for the gingerbread houses was Toys for Tots. If the Art Club wins the competition the money won will go towards Toys for Tots. The results of the contest will be announced Dec. 10 at 1 p.m.
“To get people’s attetion that our club is involving are selves in chartiys. We thought we should do Toys for Tots because we havent done any charity events; it’s our first one,” Art Club’s vice president Ashley Sittnick said.
At Friday nights basketball game Dec. 9 the Art Club will be accepting toys and cash. If you bring a toy or cash you will receive a free beverage from the concession stand.
Over 18 years, the Maraine Toys for Tots Foundation has provided toy collections with more than 81.3 million toys priced at more than $487 million, and provided promotion and support materials valued at over $6.3 million.
