Band’s largest and most important fundraiser of the year, The Blitz, is back again for its seventh year. For the Blitz, band students go into the school community and request donations.
All band students are required to participate in the event. The students will go door-to-door and ask for donations from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, March 3.
“[The Blitz is important] because it’s our biggest fundraiser during the whole school year. We make over $10,000 in less than four hours,” Michael Butler, band director, said. “The band operates on an annual budget of over $100,000. It is really helpful when patrons donate money so that we are able to have the best equipment, music and clinicians working with our band program. We greatly appreciate any donation that is made.”
The money earned is used to purchase instruments, pay for clinicians and buy music.
To make a donation one can send a check to the school: Attention Band Boosters, 2000 S. Mills Ave., Orlando, FL, 32806.
