True to the event’s name, junior teachers Robin Patterson and Cassandra Stilwell kissed a baby pig during halftime of the football game against Winter Park.
Kiss The Pig is the Sophomore Class Council’s annual fundraiser that helps less fortunate Boone families. All of the money earned goes toward Thanksgiving baskets for Boone families who are struggling financially and may not be able to afford a Thanksgiving dinner otherwise. They raised $2,343.87 to help create this season’s baskets.
“It feels very rewarding [to contribute to such a great cause] especially if it is helping people we know and are in contact with,” Sophomore Class vice president Sophie Brown said.
The class winners were: Allyssa Taylor, freshman; Chelsea Harmon, sophomore; a tie between Patterson and Stilwell, juniors; and Ian Gold, seniors. Patterson and Stilwell raised $660 each, contributing to nearly 30 percent of the total money earned.
AP Psychology teacher Patterson offered her students an incentive of an open book test and AP and Honors US History teacher Stilwell offered a 10-point curve on the final exam of the quarter.
The winning classes will receive a meal from Chick-fil-A during their class period.
