With the invention of the cell phone came the selfie, social media and all-around connectivity. Along with it came the idea that everyone could be a model, myself included, with just one click, a soft filter, and a clever caption.
Unlike the Top Model wannabes there are few who truly shine and stand out above the rest. Breanna Sheffield is one of those stars. Packing a killer personality along with her stunning looks, Sheffield has taken the steps towards being more than just an #instaModel and has set her sights on the big league.
Her modeling path was first set in motion with a single haircut. Although Sheffield held an interest in modeling in the past, her lack of self confidence stood in the way. It wasn’t until the day her hair was dyed and chopped off that Sheffield came to a realization.
“Wow, I’m hot,” Sheffield said. That was only the beginning.
“The chick who cut my hair needed a model for a photo shoot, a redhead,” Sheffield said. She attended the photo shoot and blew her two fellow models out of the water.
“My photo shoot was amazing. I did so well, and they apparently sucked because the photographer, afterwards, said he wanted to work with me again.”
This wasn’t a one time occurrence. Sheffield has since participated in multiple photo shoots with many different photographers, including fellow junior Jaime Donelson.
“[Sheffield] is really professional. Even though we are friends she still listens to me. She is the most professional model I’ve worked with,” Donelson said.
While passionate, Sheffield like any other teens knows all too well about the art of procrastination.
“I just need to get my lazy butt up and make a portfolio.” Sheffield said, expressing an interest in being signed to BMG models. Although the entertainment industry is universally known as not being one with security Sheffield isn’t fazed.
“I don’t want to sound cocky, but with the feedback I’m getting from photographers, I see myself making it big,” with dreams of making it in magazines and editorials with commercial modeling being the big prize.
“She has drive and passion for modeling. I see her getting more professional jobs, maybe a career in it,” Donelson said.
Her only setback is her height, 5’4’’, which Sheffield does not feel limited by.
“I can’t do runway,” Sheffield said. “Commercial modeling has always been number one because it incorporates acting so my height doesn’t really affect me.”
The people which Sheffield leans on are also great motivators.
“My friends and my family are really supportive [of my modeling]. My boyfriend is my number one cheerleader,” Sheffield said.
With an army of people backing her up Sheffield has nowhere to go but up.
“I’m concerned with what I’m doing and my progress,” Sheffield said.
As for the future, Sheffield doesn’t know what’s in store for her, except for one thing,
“I know if I pursue this career along with theatre I’ll be happy,” Sheffield said.
