The Boone boys soccer team (3-2-3) took on the University Cougars (1-3-1) on Tuesday night.
At the beginning of the game the Braves held a strong offense, challenging the Cougars defense. Just a few minutes into the game, senior Cameron Caicedo attempts a goal but the ball was picked up by the Cougars goalkeeper.
Caicedo pressures the goal again with a free kick. The ball was turned over and the Cougars attacked our defense but the shot sailed high. Senior Jake Stewartson takes the goal kick, pushing the pressure on the Cougars.
The Cougars had a break down the field, making the score, 0-1. After the kickoff, sophomore Zedy Adlam attempts a one on one attack on the goal pushed out by their goalkeeper.
At the first water break, the Cougars led 0-1.
Keeping up the intensity, senior Luca Bertola took a shot on goal but the ball goes wide. Sophomore Aidan Macmillan had a break down the field and scored, tying the game 1-1.
After, the Cougars pressured the defense but the ball was turned over to an off-sides kick taken by Stewartson.
At the end of the first half the score remained 2-1.
Starting up the game again, senior Paxton Cox takes a free kick far outside of the 18-yard box, putting the Braves with a 3-1 lead. Corner kick taken by Bertola was cleared out by the Cougars defense.
Junior Austin Wendling received a yellow card just before the last water break of the game with the score 3-1.
After the last water break, sophomore Trevor Firkel makes an attempt on goal with a free kick. Keeping the pressure the Braves receive a corner kick but was taken down the field by the Cougar offense.
Firkel scores the last goal of the game with a header from a cross to the middle taking the score to 4-1. The game ended with a score of 4-1.
The boys next soccer game is tomorrow against the Winter Park Wildcats (6-1-2) on the Reservation at 7:30 p.m.
