[slideshow_deploy id=’60817′]While keeping a 4.0 grade point average throughout high school, senior Austin McFarlin not only kept up a perfect GPA , but he also participated in various clubs on campus.
McFarlin participated in activities such as lacrosse, cross country, tennis National Honor Society, Spanish Club, FCA, Chemistry Club and was a founding member of the Fitness Club. McFarlin considers Fitness Club his favorite activity of all.
“I started Fitness Club with my two best friends because we thought it would be fun,” McFarlin said.
McFarlin considers himself a driven person. Throughout high school he pushed himself to meet his goal of becoming a valedictorian.
McFarlin maintained a 4.9 weighted GPA but not without struggles. Advanced Placement Physics was McFarlin’s hardest class, but he used color coordinated pens to help him stay organized in this class, ultimately helping him keep an A.
“Electromagnetism and Quantum theory was really confusing for me,” McFarlin said.
McFarlin plans to attend UCF and major in biomedical sciences.
“I chose UCF because they gave me a good scholarship, they have a good medical program and it is an attractive campus,” McFarlin said.
He plans to major in biomed because the field has a lot of career possibilities and he would like to find a cure for cancer.
