Getting in the mood for the holiday season, the Art Club is participating in a gingerbread house contest. The Festival Bay Gingerbread Competition sets several central Florida schools, elementary through high school tiers, against one another, with a chance at winning prizes from $50-$200.
From Nov. 28 to Dec. 20, Festival Bay shoppers will be able to vote on their favorite gingerbread house, with a donation of $1 at Festival Bay. Schools that participate get all the funds they raise as well as chances for prizes based on the number of donations. Boone’s art department plans to use funds they raise to buy supplies, like framing tools to display student artwork throughout the school.
“We did a swamp [styled house], like the everglades with trees and a bake house; we just wanted to do something different,” Advanced Placement Art Portfolio student Elizabeth Horgan said.
