To provide families in need with Thanksgiving dinner, SGA assembled Thanksgiving baskets Nov. 13-17.

“The purpose is to give Thanksgiving dinner to families who do not have the funds to have one themselves,” Annette Montgomery, SGA sponsor, said.

Using the $2,500 raised during Kiss the Pig, SGA officers purchased various Thanksgiving foods at Publix to fill the 25 baskets passed out this year.  Each basket included: a gift certificate for the turkey or meat of choice, side dishes such as, potatoes, green beans, corn and stuffing, bread, pies, and pans to cook the turkey in.

“[Thanksgiving baskets] gives us another way to give something to the community because this was all for those in Boone,” Montgomery said.
